NHI can only succeed if there's equal healthcare for everyone

Investing in a strong primary healthcare system, providing equal facilities for all citizens, and curbing hospital costs are just some of the lessons South Africa can draw from other countries as it prepares for the rollout of the National Health Insurance (NHI).
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi agrees with this. He believes that in order for the NHI to work in South Africa, the quality of healthcare needs to improve. He also thinks a pricing commission should be established in order to lower the costs of private healthcare.
South Africa appears to have two healthcare systems – firstly, based on how much money you earn and secondly, if you have medical aid. This needs to be fixed before the NHI can succeed.
