Option Renewal 2012 in full swing

28 November 2011

Each year, CMP – along with all schemes in the country – amend their benefit sets in accordance with legislation and feedback from the Registrar of Medical Schemes. This year, there will been a few changes across all HealthPact plans, as well as a change in process.

Benefit highlights for 2012

  • The CMP tariff for 2012 will be the CMP tariff for 2011 + 6.5%.
  • Contributions will increase by 5.8% on HealthPact Premium 5.31% on HealthPact Silver and 7.63% on HealthPact Select.
  • The amount contributed to the Medical Savings Account (MSA) on HealthPact Silver will increase from R191 to R200. The amount will remain the same on HealthPact Select.
  • Sub-limits on certain benefits, like doctor and dentist consultations, will increase to counteract the effects of inflation.
  • The prosthetic and implant limit will increase from R20,000 to R35,000 across all three plans, which is a 75% increase. All procedures will still be subject to pre- authorisation, as well as the provision of proper motivation and full medical information.
  • Co-payments on in-hospital laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures, including sigmoidoscopies, remain the same at R1,000 across all procedures.
  • Chronic medication registrations will roll over to the end of June 2012. Members will have until then to register – please contact our Member Relations Management (MRM) division for more information.

A change in process

In the last edition of Elixir we mentioned that we’d be doing things a little differently this year. Not only is the new process far more streamlined, but it will save time, paper, and money too. The deadline for submission is at midnight on 30 November 2011.

Updated website functionality

If you’re already registered on our website, Option Renewal should happen there for you. All you need to do is review the three plans online, log in, fill out and return your form. It will be as easy as following the instructions and prompts, making your choice from a drop-down menu, and clicking ‘SUBMIT’.
If you’re not yet registered on the site, we urge you to do so, as this will make the Option Renewal process a lot easier for you.

Traditional paper route still available

If you don’t have access to a computer or have requested your correspondence by post, then you will still receive your updated product information and Option Renewal form in this way. You will then be able to return the form to us by hand, post or fax.
